چکیده

The motion of a one-spike solution to a simplified form of the Gierer-Meinhardt activatorinhibitor model is studied in both a one-dimensional and a two-dimensional domain. The pinning effect on the spike motion associated with the presence of spatially varying coefficients in the differential operator, referred to as precursor gradients, is studied in detail. In the one-dimensional case, we derive a differential equation for the trajectory of the spike in the limit ε → 0, where ε is the activator diffusivity. A similar differential equation is derived for the two-dimensional problem in the limit for which ε ≪ 1 and D ≫ 1, where D is the inhibitor diffusivity. A numerical finite-element method is presented to track the motion of the spike for the full problem in both one and two dimensions. Finally, the numerical results for the spike motion are compared with corresponding asymptotic results for various examples.

Molecular Dynamics Simulation of Al/NiO Thermite Reaction Using Reactive Force Field (ReaxFF)

In this work, the thermal reaction of aluminum (Al) and nickel oxide (NiO) was investigated by molecular dynamics simulations. Some effective features of reaction such as reaction temperature, the reaction mechanism, and diffusion rate of oxygen into aluminum structure were studied. ReaxFF force field was performed to study the Al/NiO thermite reaction behavior at five different temperatures (5...

Cellular Automata Simulation of a Bistable Reaction-Diffusion System: Microscopic and Macroscopic Approaches

The Cellular Automata method has been used to simulate the pattern formation of the Schlögl model as a bistable Reaction-Diffusion System. Both microscopic and macroscopic Cellular Automata approaches have been considered and two different methods for obtaining the probabilities in the microscopic approach have been mentioned. The results show the tendency of the system towards the more sta...

The Stability and Slow Dynamics of Two-Spike Patterns for a Class of Reaction-Diffusion System

The slow dynamics and linearized stability of a two-spike quasi-equilibrium solution to a general class of reaction-diffusion (RD) system with and without sub-diffusion is analyzed. For both the case of regular and sub-diffusion, the method of matched asymptotic expansions is used to derive an ODE characterizing the spike locations in the absence of any O(1) time-scale instabilities of the two-...
